| Brian- our youngest boy at the Springs of Life Children's Home in Kibera. |
Thank you all for your prayers for travel safety- they have been
answered. I was shown favor at the SWISS air check-in counter in both Miami and
Zurich. My checked luggage(including the free authorized piece of excess luggage)
was not weighed at either location. They were just whisked away...what a blessing! My carry on duffel was extremely
heavy, full of sports and school items. In Zurich, the SWISS representative kindly
allowed me to unload approximately 25 pounds of this material into my largest
checked bag! This allowed me to manage my hand luggage more comfortably.

I met another missionary named Sabina from Germany on my Zurich to
Nairobi
flight. God is so amazing and strategic in every aspect of our lives.
What an
encouragement to share our common heart to serve the Lord in cross
cultural
ministry! Sabina serves in Tanzania and am thankful for this new
connection in
East Africa. She has faithfully served in Africa for 17 years! I am now with Pastor Paul and Grace Mbithi in Nairobi, along with
their
family and several others that live here with them. Diana and Joseph are
my
resident "little people" and are such a joy to see each morning. They
are my new students- we worked with their numbers and alphabet today,
and they
taught me two new words in Kiswahili for water and rain= 'mvua' and
'maji'!
Tomorrow are the church services in Kibera, then we plan to attend a
rally/meeting to voice disapproval of the newly proposed Constitution
for
Kenya, which was being shamelessly promoted and pushed locally by our
American
VP earlier this week. There will be fifteen national pastors and four
government politicians speaking in Uhuru Park Sunday afternoon, as well
as worship groups leading in song. Please pray that
this new Constitution will not gain the needed votes and that these
current challenges will
unify and strengthen the Kenyan believers.
Thank you so much for your prayer support! I see God at work all
around me!
His for the nations,
Ruthie :-)
