CIRCLE J CAMP 2008, VICTORY CHURCH
Here are a few pictures from my work at Circle J Camp. This year I taught twelve 4th grade students and helped the Orange Team out at Cheyenne Territory with the games, singing, drama/devotions, and lunch. I look forward to and try to participate in Circle J because some of the boys and girls were my former students when I taught at Blake Academy and Jesse Keen Elementary. I love to see them as they grow older each year, and of course there are always new faces. I also know some of the boys and girls from working with Teresa Bullard in Sidewalk Sunday School (SWSS). The SWSS program is a mobile truck with a portable stage that comes to neighborhoods and apartment complexes to bring God's Word the children living there through games, songs and engaging Bible lessons. Many of these children deal with a lot of conflict and negative influences in their environment, and during my week at Circle J, there were some high emotions and serious challenges among my students. I kept preparing my heart, making daily adjustments, and praying in my classroom for each student. At times I wondered how effective I really was for such a short term assignment. I was moved when my students came to me on Friday- our last day- and said, "We want you to teach us next year! You need to tell them to sign you up NOW for 5th grade next year! Don't forget to tell them so you can teach 5th grade next year!" If I heard them say it once, they told me five times throughout our last day together! I thank God for each one of my students, and I know that seeds from His Word were planted in their hearts that will last a lifetime.
